Welcome to ECVB's paradise of rust and excessiveness.
The places visited today are abandoned since 1984 and - surprise ! - apart from the influence of time, very
little human degradation is to be deplored.
It's not uncommon to see sites completely devastated by stupidity after only a few years. Here, none of this.
We could almost hear the din of the turbine or feel the heat of furnaces as everything seems to have been abandoned
yesterday. Another matter of astonishment : the vast majority of manometers and dials are still perfectly legible,
despite the dust and humidity.
We can only be impressed by the grandeur and some majesty of this monster of bricks and steel. A site that deserves to
be safeguarded and protected, but remains dangerous to visit.
Finally, a little background is needed : the first electricity generating unit will be installed in 1913. A new coal-fired power plant will operate from 1959 to 1984. In addition to producing electricity, it also supplied neighboring industries with heat. In 1993 a gas turbine will succeed to the old power plant, built next door and demolished in 2013.
