The prison world... A resolutely world apart, and a negative microcosm of society.
Few positive things have taken place here, and for good reason. Those who do not deserve to be "free" (or rather "not locked")
were crammed into these small cells for sometimes many years. I don't pity them.
About staff which ensured the security of the institution, we don't find any trace. Anyway, nobody care about prison guards...
Very well preserved, it presents the classical plan of prisons built in the 19th or early 20th century.
Totally surrounded in the city, Prison19H offers today a quiet haven in the polluted and noisy city.
The yards.
Four sections of 40 cells.
Left, kitchens and workshops. In the background, the cells. On the right, the chapel.
The large chapel.
Premises located on the ground floor couldn't be visited.
A watchtower.
Obviously, the staff here were armed. Hence the presence of hatches on the walls of watchtower.
Buttons and indicator lights. It feels almost like a spaceship.
No ?
A long mysterious tunnel.
The prison medical center.
To avoid risky transfer of the prisoners to hospitals, large prisons are generally equipped with such a center.
There we find a radiograph, an operating room and several medical offices.
A cell in the medical center.
A surgical lighthead ! For a long time I hadn't seen it.
The chapel.
The organ has the distinction of having two keyboards.
Inside the organ.
The hart of the prison.
Above, a mini security center.
View of the three main wings.
A new wing was built next to the original prison.
Sections have cells on one side.
Back to the historical part.
Here we are in a time warp : doors and wooden walkways, cells originally not provided with sanitary, tiny windows.
In the center and at each level, great and almost modern rooms. No idea on their usefulness.
Stairs straight.
Woe to him who misses a step !
Outside cellular, there are workshops of another age.
The last guardian may leave. There is nothing more to look on here.
One of the many totally free services offered to the nice imprisoned, victims of this society who does not understand them.
On the top floor, overlooking the mini-center.
We'll try to get out...
Not here anyway !
See you next time.
